Like to eat sea anemones, molluscs and worms. They live along rocky coasts. The spawning season is from March to May when the male guards the territory where several females lay their eggs.
Distribution:
East Atlantic Ocean, Western and Northern Mediterranean, Southern North Sea.
Rare along the Dutch coast and more common in Zeeland waters near stony dikes. Also found on mussel beds in the Wadden Sea.
